Styling the border-radius property in React

Author:JIYIK Last Updated:2025/03/17 Views:

Use borderRadiusCSS properties to style border-radius of elements in React, e.g. <div style={{border: '1px solid red', borderRadius: '30px'}}>If we need to style a specific border, use the corresponding property, borderBottomLeftRadiuse.g.

const App = () => {
  return (
    <div>
      <div style={{border: '1px solid red', borderRadius: '30px'}}>
        Some content here
      </div>

      <br />

      <div style={{border: '1px dashed red', borderRadius: '25% 10%'}}>
        Some content here
      </div>

      <br />

      <div
        style={{
          border: '1px solid rgba(0,255,0,0.3)',
          borderRadius: '10% 30% 50% 70%',
        }}
      >
        Some content here
      </div>

      <br />

      <div style={{border: '2px dotted red', borderRadius: '10% / 50%'}}>
        Some content here
      </div>

      <br />

      <div
        style={{
          border: '2px solid red',
          borderBottomLeftRadius: '30px',
          borderBottomRightRadius: '30px',
        }}
      >
        Some content here
      </div>
    </div>
  );
};

export default App;

border-radiusThese examples show how to style CSS properties of elements in React .

请注意, we have to borderRadiuswrap the value of the attribute in a string.

<div style={{border: '1px solid red', borderRadius: '30px'}}>
  Some content here
</div>

If the border-radius style isn't updated, we might be overriding it somewhere else in our code.

We can try setting the style to !important.

<div
  style={{border: '2px solid red'}}
  ref={el => {
    if (el) {
      el.style.setProperty('border-radius', '25% 10%', 'important');
    }
  }}
>
  Hello world
</div>

The function we pass to ref propwill be called with the element, so we can programmatically set its properties toimportant .

If we need to set border-radius for only specific borders, use camelCase property names - borderBottomLeftRadius, , borderBottomRightRadiusetc.

<div
  style={{
    border: '2px solid red',
    borderBottomLeftRadius: '30px',
    borderBottomRightRadius: '30px',
  }}
>
  Some content here
</div>

In the code we pass to Reactstyle property, multi-word property names are camelCase.

Alternatively, we can write the styles into a file with a .css extension.

.red-rounded-border {
  border: 1px solid red;
  border-radius: 30px;
}

Here is how we will import and use the red rounded border class.

import './App.css';

const App = () => {
  return (
    <div>
      <div className="red-rounded-border">Some content here</div>
    </div>
  );
};

export default App;

When importing global CSS files in React, the best practice is to import the CSS file into index.jsa .js file.

index.js file is the entry point of your React application, so it will always run.

On the other hand, if we import a CSS file into a component, the CSS styles may be removed once our component unmounts.
