MySQLi Count() Function
This is a special function in PHP MySQLi that counts and returns the number of rows present in the result set.
MySQLi Count() Rows
Assume that we have the following dataset in a table named network.
We want to count the number of rows in a table. Use the following query.
SELECT COUNT(*) FROM network;
The query above returns the number of rows in the network table.
Suppose we want to count the rows having any value in the managerid column. Therefore, the following query will be used.
SELECT COUNT(managerid) FROM network;
As expected, we get the number of rows that have a value in the managerid column. Another point to consider here is that we get 4 rows instead of 5 because it does not count the rows with NULL values.
