Extract or unzip files in batch script
In this article, we will see how to create a batch script to extract files from a zip file.
Create a batch script to unzip the files
We can extract or decompress files using batch scripts which need to contain the destination directory where the files will be extracted and the directory of the source files. To decompress the compressed files, we need to integrate a different scripting language in the batch script, namely Visual Basic Script, or VBS for short.
Batch script:
@ECHO off
setlocal
CD /d %~dp0
CALL :UnZipFile "C:\ExtractLocation" "C:\Sample\sample.zip"
EXIT /b
:UnZipFile <ExtractTo> <newzipfile>
SET vbs="%temp%\_.vbs"
IF EXIST %vbs% DEL /f /q %vbs%
>%vbs% ECHO Set fso = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
>>%vbs% ECHO If NOT fso.FolderExists(%1) Then
>>%vbs% ECHO fso.CreateFolder(%1)
>>%vbs% ECHO End If
>>%vbs% ECHO set objShell = CreateObject("Shell.Application")
>>%vbs% ECHO set FilesInZip=objShell.NameSpace(%2).items
>>%vbs% ECHO objShell.NameSpace(%1).CopyHere(FilesInZip)
>>%vbs% ECHO Set fso = Nothing
>>%vbs% ECHO Set objShell = Nothing
cscript //nologo %vbs%
IF EXIST %vbs% DEL /f /q %vbs%
In the code above, we called the :UnZipFile function. We integrated the VB script to include the decompression functionality in the function.
You can notice that we pass two arguments to the function, where the first argument ( <ExtractTo>
) is for the directory where the files are extracted and the second argument ( <newzipfile>
) is for the directory where the source files are located.
When you run the above batch script by providing all the necessary directories correctly, you will get the extracted zip file in the directory you have provided for extracting files.
请记住
, the commands we discuss here apply only to the Windows Command Prompt, or CMD environment.
