If you have a folder with a dozen files, adding the files one by one can be tedious. Fortunately, Git allows us to add all the contents of a folder to commit.

Add all files in a folder to commit in Git
The following image has a Git repository that contains several untracked folders containing different files.
Suppose we want to add the Work samples/ folder. How do we do that?
We can run the git add command in a context like below ;
$ git add "Work samples/"
We included “”because the folder name has spaces. This command should add all the files in the Work-samples/ folder.
Let's check our indexes.
$ git status
This is much faster and cleaner than adding them one by one.
Alternative way to add all files in a folder to commit in Git
Alternatively, we can cd into the folder and run the command as follows:
$ cd "Work samples/"
To add all the files in our folder, run the following command:
$ git add .
Let's check our indexes.
$ git status
All of our files have been added to our index.
Submit below
$ git commit -m"commit message"
In summary, you can add entire folders to commit in Git. Make sure you are on top of the folder you want to add.
You can also add all the files in a folder using git add command
with dot . And while specifying the folder name, if there is space in the folder name, use “”.
